Hi! My name is Paige Atkison. I am 12 years old and I raise money for children with clefts in third world countries to receive medical attention. My organization, Smile Missions, raises the funds for Operation Smile. Operation Smile is a non-profit that goes all over the world performing surgeries on the cleft lip and palate for free.
So far I have raised over $55,000 for kids like me. I have funded to missions to Egypt. One to Cairo and another to Qena.
I first got involved in Operation Smile through my plasticsurgeon. He used to tell me his stories whenever I'd go for an appointment. I got involved when I was about 9. Ever since then, I have been raising money for more and more people.
November 2009, I went on a mission trip to Cairo, Egypt with Operation Smile. I got to see 94 lives dramatically changed. It was an amazing experience! Sadly, hundreds of people were turned away. Which is why I have to keep raising funds!
I plan to keep on raising money for more and more missions. :)
